Ant International extends tokenized deposit partnerships with HSBC, OCBC

Ant International continues to expand the payment corridors where it is deploying tokenized deposits for its distributed ledger-based treasury management platform, WhaleRTP. It already has tokenized deposit partnerships with both HSBC and OCBC and has now expanded each. WhaleRTP is now supported by 20 banks globally, enabling real time transfers in more than 17 currencies across financial centers including Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe and the United States.

For HSBC’s Tokenised Deposit Service, the main expansion is into the Middle East. Ant has conducted pilot transactions to move tokenized dirhams within the UAE, as well as cross border US dollar transactions from the UAE to Hong Kong and Singapore. Other currencies that HSBC supports include EUR, GBP, HKD and SGD.

“With the support of regional bank partners such as HSBC, we aim to establish a global treasury hub in the Middle East in the near future to better support our global operations,” said Kelvin Li, General Manager of Platform Tech and SVP at Ant International.
