Aviva Investors announced a collaboration with Ripple to start tokenizing funds on the XRP Ledger. The investment manager, with £253 billion ($345bn) in assets under management, is a division of Aviva, one of the UK’s largest insurers and the largest in general insurance.
This is the first time that Aviva Investors is exploring tokenizing funds. And for Ripple it is its first partnership with a European asset manager. In 2024 another UK Ripple partner, digital exchange Archax, tokenized some Abrdn funds on the XRP Ledger, with Ripple investing $5 million in the money market funds. In that case Abrdn was Archax’s partner as well as a major investor.
“We believe there are many benefits that tokenisation can bring to investors, including improvements in terms of both time and cost efficiency,” said Jill Barber, Chief Distribution Officer at Aviva Investors. “We are committed to adopting technological advancements that we believe can bring about positive change for our business, and we think tokenised funds can be hugely beneficial to our clients.”
