Lithuania’s Axiology wants to help wire together Europe’s fragmented capital markets, and its co-founder Marius Jurgilas, a former central banker, is impatient about the pace. The company was just the fourth to land a DLT Pilot Regime license and the second to operate both a multilateral trading facility and settlement service (DLT TSS). But talking to Jurgilas, the conversation keeps returning not to blockchain interoperability in the conventional sense of connecting different chains, but to the regulatory interoperability between EU jurisdictions that he sees as the real bottleneck.
We’ll return to those views which are partly informed by his experience so far with Axiology. The company started by focusing on the crowdfunding market in the Baltics and aims to cater to SMEs by enabling the issuance of corporate bonds, or mini bonds, bridging the gap between crowdfunding and the higher ticket corporate bond market. Although Axiology’s license also supports equity and funds, its initial roadmap centers on fixed income, including government bonds to cater to the financing of European defense requirements. The platform entered production in December 2025, six months after landing the license, and the company secured a €5 million seed round in February this year.
The company aims to cater to both sides of the market, the originators and broker dealers, especially European neobrokers. Cryptocurrencies have highlighted the appetite for chasing yield, and Jurgilas wants to direct those funds to what he views as a more productive use case, providing growth funding to SMEs who may already have pledged their available collateral with banks. The bonds offer yields in the high single digits to low double digits, with sectors including real estate and banking.
