DBS tokenized money survey

Singapore’s DBS Bank commissioned EY to conduct an international survey of large corporates with revenues of $500 million or more. It found a surprisingly large proportion (67%) of the companies have already adopted tokenized money in some form, with 24% using it at scale, and another 43% deploying them in limited geographies. A further 21% are in the pilot phase.

The benefits data mirrors the adoption tiers. Roughly a fifth of respondents say they are already experiencing each benefit, in line with the 24% operating at scale, while 39% to 48% expect to see them within two years, matching the 43% with limited deployments. Traceability and auditability topped the list, tied with real time cross border payments, each cited by 48% as a near term benefit.

Overall, the figures seem high for an international survey, but over 70% of respondents come from eight APAC countries. On the instruments side, stablecoins lead the pack at 63% of respondents using or planning to use them, followed by tokenized deposits at 53%, only slightly ahead of tokenized money market funds at 52% and CBDCs (51%). over 70% of respondents come from eight APAC countries.
