The DTCC’s high profile project right now is its planned launch of tokenized stocks as token entitlements. But it has another major tokenization initiative, the DTCC Collateral AppChain. Today it announced it is incorporating Chainlink’s CRE technology as part of the AppChain, which is expected to launch in Q4 2026. Given the DTCC’s connectivity across the industry, it is aiming to provide a 24/7 solution for collateral mobility not just for the United States, but also internationally. It will enable various types of tokenized collateral to move between collateral owners and venues, especially for margin purposes.

Last year it demonstrated the platform alongside several institutions. It’s a non trivial undertaking requiring the onboarding of different types of assets, not just DTCC tokens but also tokenized money market funds, stablecoins, tokenized deposits and other forms of cash. Additionally, it will need to onboard the venues receiving collateral, collateral providers, triparty agents and custodians.

Previously the DTCC has been involved in Proofs of Concept involving Chainlink technology, primarily involving data, such as for distributing NAV data and providing a unified golden record of corporate actions. While the emphasis in today’s announcement is also on data, Chainlink CRE offers far more functionality including compliance, identity, helping with integration with legacy systems, and a cross chain bridge. Rather than building separate integrations for each data source or asset class, CRE acts as a reusable orchestration framework intended to let the platform scale over time.
