Franklin Templeton partners Binance for tokenization

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance and asset manager Franklin Templeton have announced a strategic collaboration to develop digital asset initiatives targeting institutional and retail investors. The partnership will combine Franklin Templeton’s securities tokenization capabilities with Binance’s global trading platform and customer base.

The collaboration aims to enhance capital market efficiency through blockchain technology, focusing on improved transparency, accessibility and settlement processes. Franklin Templeton manages $1.6 trillion in assets, while Binance operates as the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and user count.

Franklin Templeton has established itself as a pioneer in blockchain integration among traditional asset managers. The company was the first incumbent to launch a tokenized money market fund in 2021 with FOBXX, which now operates across eight permissionless blockchains. Earlier this year, Franklin Templeton introduced a Luxembourg domiciled tokenized fund, marking the first fully tokenized UCITS SICAV product in that jurisdiction. It doesn’t just issue on various blockchains, the asset manager also operates nodes in order to understand how they work.
