Ahead of next week’s Sibos, open source body the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT) has added 15 new members, including several institutional names. They include Swift, Wells Fargo, Brazil’s central bank affiliated innovation group Fenasbac, and DCP, the company behind Japan’s tokenized deposit solution DCJPY.
Additionally, the LFDT unveiled a major upgrade to its blockchain interoperability platform, Hyperledger Cacti v3, making it easier to plug in new blockchains for cross chain transfers. With the proliferation of institutional blockchains, interoperability has come to the fore. LFDT also announced a new incubating project, Panurus, which is an upgrade to the Hyperledger Fabric Token SDK. The solution has been used by the Banque de France’s DL3S blockchain for its cash token (a surrogate for wCBDC), as well as in the Bank of Canada’s recent Project Samara trial for digital bond settlement using wCBDC.
Meanwhile, Swift has started live trials of its Swift Ledger, which enables interoperability between banks or tokenized deposits, through orchestration and calculating net settlement of interbank liabilities. The ledger is based on Lineth, an LFDT incubation project for Layer 2 blockchains, which in turn incorporates the Besu codebase.
Last month Wells Fargo announced plans to launch a tokenized deposit solution to serve corporate and commercial clients with a 24/7/365 initial offering that supports US dollars and sterling. While described as a proprietary blockchain platform, it looks like it leverages LFDT technologies.
