New York Stock Exchange parent ICE is enabling its FX and precious metals rates from the ICE Consolidated Feed to be used in web3 applications via an integration with Chainlink, the blockchain network that started out as an oracle provider.
Chainlink sources its on-chain data from a variety of providers and sells it through a subscription. It mainly provides crypto data, but also recently added a real world assets (RWA) feed that includes prices of various US listed stocks, many of which have now been tokenized.
Beyond stocks, tokenized gold has gained some traction, and the proliferation of stablecoins means that stablecoins in various currencies are starting to become available, making high quality FX feeds essential. The metals and FX data can be used for these purposes and for on-chain derivatives.
