Quorum head leaves JP Morgan for startup

jp morgan chase

According to Fortune magazine, Amber Baldet the head of JP Morgan’s Quorum blockchain unit is leaving the company. Two weeks ago rumors circulated that JP Morgan was considering spinning off the group. One of the questions is which came first?

JP Morgan’s Jessica Francisco said “Amber is extremely talented and helped build the outstanding team we have today. We respect her desire to start her own venture and we wish her nothing but the best.”

Baldet’s replacement is Christine Moy who is a senior product manager at JP Morgan and first hire to the team. Moy has been with the firm for 15 years.

Quorum, the business flavor of Ethereum has proved popular with enterprises and is one of the top four leading software choices along with Enterprise Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, and R3’s Corda.

JP Morgan needs to clarify the future of Quorum sooner rather than later because enterprise clients need certainty. At a time when many business projects are getting started, without clarity they won’t consider Quorum.
