Standard Chartered plans to offer digital asset custody to institutional and accredited investor corporate clients in Singapore, covering certain cryptoassets, stablecoins and tokenized real world assets. The service will sit within the bank’s Financing and Securities Services division, subject to regulatory approvals.
The Singapore launch follows Standard Chartered’s buyout of minority investors in Zodia Custody in May. That deal consolidated the bank’s digital asset custody under its own brand, addressing an overlap where the bank and its majority owned subsidiary were competing for the same institutional clients. The planned offering will complement Standard Chartered’s existing securities services capabilities in Singapore, connecting traditional asset servicing with tokenization and digital custody within a single framework. The bank already provides digital asset custody elsewhere, launching its first service in the UAE in late 2024. Subsequently it added Luxembourg and the UK in 2025 and Hong Kong earlier this year, with Singapore extending that footprint into one of Asia’s most active financial centers.
