TrueProfile.io partners with uPort for interoperable digital identities

Yesterday document verification firm TrueProfile.io announced its collaboration with blockchain digital identity platform uPort. The partnership means that uPort’s wallet can store credentials and verified documents of TrueProfile.io members.

TrueProfile.io, part of the DataFlow Group, provides a blockchain-based digital portfolio for job applicants. The technology allows user’s documents to be stored in a safe and portable platform. Meanwhile, hiring companies can easily verify the applicant’s data.

The firm’s focus on self-sovereign identity matches the ethos of uPort. uPort is an Ethereum based digital identity service, which allows users to manage their identities, keys, and data on an app. The company also offers tools to share and request credentials and sign transactions with their blockchain verifiable identity.

Yesterday’s announcement reveals that TrueProfile.io identities can be managed on the uPort app. In fact, TrueProfile.io is actively encouraging users to “unite” their SSIs and verified documents in the identity firm’s decentralized platform.

“TrueProfile.io has developed the integration with uPort as part of our ongoing commitment to giving our members the best, most secure and convenient verification services that they can use throughout the duration of their career,” said René Seifert, the firm’s Chief Digital Officer.

He continued: “uPort enables us to enhance the portable aspect of our TrueProofs and by maintaining this through the use of blockchain, our members have the freedom to have authority over how their information is stored and who it is shared with.”

TrueProofs are essentially validation documents, which confirm that an applicant’s details are verified. Each TrueProof comes with a unique QR code linking it to the blockchain. They, too, run on Ethereum.

With the new integration, users can scan the QR code themselves via the uPort app, adding the linked document to their wallet.

uPort’s COO, Alice Nawfal, said: “We are excited to partner with TrueProfile.io to enable the portability of employee verifications. TrueProfile .io’s members will be empowered to manage their own professional credentials in a highly secure way. This is a very valuable use case for decentralised identity, one that we expect will be transforming the future of workplaces.”

Consensys-backed uPort is one of the leading SSI firms and Sovrin’s biggest competitor. Recently Sovrin ran its first SSI focused incubator, which included Pelle Brændgaard, uPort’s CTO, on the panel.
