Warner Bros. Discovery, the rights owner of Game of Thrones, has partnered with the NFT marketplace Nifty’s to launch digital collectibles based on the popular TV show. The “Build your own realm” series will allow fans to build their collection through themed community activities, upgradeable avatars, and other digital collectibles.

This will enable fans to customize their NFT characters with weapons and apparel. Locations, characters, and video moments are also included as part of the collection that will hit the market before 2023.

“Every so often, a film or television series comes along that pushes the boundaries of its genre so far, it forever changes the creative landscape, becoming a part of our collective cultural identity. Game of Thrones is that series for this generation,” said Jeff Marsilio, the CEO and Co-Founder of Nifty’s. “A new kind of digital collectible will allow fans of the franchise to connect in ways they never have before.”

This collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and Nifty’s also pulls Daz 3d into the mix. Daz 3d is a digital production company that has also worked on DC’s Bat Cowl Program, with Nike owned RTFKT, and the Friendship Box NFT for Coca Cola. Nifty’s and Warner Bros’ partnership dates back to 2021 when they launched Matrix Avatar NFTs on the blockchain, including the interactive component from the movies of choosing the Red pill or Blue pill.

While NFT sales have dropped 60% since Q2 2022 this has not dissuaded Warner Bros. Discovery. In fact, this latest announcement comes shortly after Warner Bros. launched another of its franchises into web3 – popular movie series, Lord of the Rings was dropped as a web3 movie experience.
