AMINA Bank in DLT settlement trials with Google Cloud Universal Ledger

Swiss digital asset bank AMINA, Deutsche Börse’s Crypto Finance and their banking partners completed interbank settlement trials using the Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL). While the participants were Swiss regulated institutions and settlement was domestic, the distributed ledger technology (DLT) pilot showed how it would be possible to enable cross border settlement in real time, 24/7. Additionally, the potential for point of sale integration was also proposed.

There’s no mention of tokenized deposits, because the solution was only used for interbank settlement. Customers would not need to be aware about what’s happening behind the scenes.

According to the companies, the DLT trials demonstrated that payment modernization is viable “without creating new forms of digital currency or disrupting existing regulatory frameworks.”
