FAB issues digital bond via Euroclear

First Abu Dhabi Bank FAB

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), the Middle East’s largest bank, has issued an AED 1 billion ($272m) digital green bond using Euroclear’s D-FMI platform. This marks at least the fourth digital bond issued by a MENAT bank using D-FMI in the past year, and more broadly, the third D-FMI bond issuance in the past two months.

The 3-year Digitally ‎Native Green Notes carry a coupon of 5.75% and are listed on ADX. This is the bank’s second digital bond following its first $100 million issuance in July last year using the HSBC Hong Kong-based Orion distributed ledger platform.

“Building on our inaugural digital bond in 2025, we are ‎demonstrating how digital infrastructure can advance sustainable finance through greater ‎automation and more efficient execution,” said Lars Kramer, Group Chief Financial Officer at First Abu Dhabi Bank.
