Google Cloud already runs validator nodes for several blockchains and will now become a corporate baker for the Tezos proof of stake blockchain. The term ‘baker’ is the Tezos equivalent of the operator of a validator node.

Hedera Hashgraph was the first distributed ledger to attract Google Cloud as a node operator more than three years ago when it joined the Governing Council of the network. Since then, Google Cloud has become a validator or supplied nodes for the Theta video blockchain, Flow, Solana and Ronin. In October, it unveiled a managed hosting service for Ethereum nodes and ramped up its engagement in the sector at the time.
