Standard Chartered has issued a three year, $200 million digital bond or digitally native note (DNN) on Euroclear’s D-FMI. While Euroclear has hosted digital issuances by several banks, the floating rate note marks the first by a G-SIB and the first by a UK issuer on its digital platform. It has applied for the DNN to be admitted to trading on the International Securities Market of the London Stock Exchange.
The bank acted as sole dealer, having previously served as Joint Lead Manager for Emirates NBD’s digitally native bond on D-FMI and Sole Lead Manager for Doha Bank‘s issuance. Beyond the existing track record with Euroclear, there is a new link. Usman Ahmad, who previously led the bank owned Zodia Markets, is now head of digital assets at Euroclear.
“We are demonstrating how digital issuance can be integrated into an established funding programme while maintaining connectivity with trusted international market infrastructure and investor workflows,” said Vikash Mistry, Deputy Group Treasurer, Standard Chartered.
