Japan’s most prolific blockchain investor SBI Holdings has formed a strategic joint venture with Singapore-based Startale Group to develop a 24/7 onchain trading platform for tokenized stocks and real world assets (RWA). The partnership brings together SBI’s extensive financial infrastructure, including over 11 trillion JPY in assets under management and 65 million customers, with Startale’s blockchain technology expertise. Startale’s roots are also in Japan, as the founder of the Astar Network and partner to Sony’s Soneium blockchain.
The collaboration enters a rapidly expanding market, following recent tokenized stock launches by Robinhood and expanded offerings from major crypto exchanges including Kraken, Bybit and Gemini. Industry projections estimate the tokenized asset market could reach $18.9 trillion by 2033.
The new platform aims to address limitations in current tokenized stock offerings by providing continuous global access rather than restricted operating hours or geographic limitations. The venture has secured milestone-based funding to support development through commercial launch.
